SDG 4: Quality Education

Access to equitable quality education is paramount to many Ramon Magsaysay Awardees.

2014 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee SAUR MARLINA MANURUNG from Indonesia founded “Sokola Rimba” or “Jungle School” to educate the nomadic dwellers of her country’s forests.  Through her dedication, a cadre of young, newly-literate Orang Rimba are now able to serve their people as tutors and community leaders. Trained in advocacy and empowered to liaise between their communities and the outside world, these youth represent their elders and “speak to the national government” on policies that impact on the forest people.

She is just one of many Ramon Magsaysay Awardees who promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
